Interactive Business Systems (IBS) has partnered with a Milwaukee based company to find a systems engineer direct hire position.

POSITION SUMMARY

Oversee the day-to-day operations of organizations systems. Maintain company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by IT. Utilize a strong background in system administration and support. Work closely with the Infrastructure Systems Engineers and Infrastructure Systems Analysts to implement and maintain server and storage technology solutions for Business and Manufacturing systems to support the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related degree; or equivalent school and IT experience.
  • Three plus years' IT operations related experience.
  • One plus year experience with Red Hat Linux Operating Systems.
  • One plus year experience with Microsoft Server Operating Systems.
  • One plus year experience with VMware.
  • Experience supporting servers, Linux and MS Windows O/S, Active Directory, server applications, peripherals, printers, LAN equipment, network protocols, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in network and server capacity planning and troubleshooting bottlenecks
  • Experience operating in small to mid-scale datacenters.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities in diagnosing and resolving OS, Server, SAN or Datacenter Infrastructure equipment.
  • Ability to build relationships and provide solid customer service across both technical and functional areas of the business.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in working with both functional and technical teams at various levels in the business.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related.
  • Experience in working in and supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Red Hat Linux Certification.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional.
  • Experience with Active Directory.
  • Microsoft Exchange administration skills.
  • VMware Skills.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Recommend and participate in key process improvements related to the client/server environment.
  2. Coordinate and collaborate with Systems, Network, and Database employees to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands.
  3. Participate in the design, implementation, and management of client/server environments and infrastructure required to support strategies in the operations of E-mail, ERP applications, file / print, backup and disaster recovery, Linux, Active Directory and associated application software.
  4. Maintain storage technologies such as SAN or NAS.
  5. Oversee daily operations of server systems, applications, and hardware; regularly participate in patching, asset management, and capacity planning exercises.
  6. Implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure server security.
  7. Assist in designing and implementing data center/server room security features, including HVAC control, environmental alarms, access restrictions, and UPS.
  8. Assure IT Operations service levels are met.
  9. Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure network products and services.
  10. Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  11. Participate in On-Call support rotation – Tier I.
