Job Description

Job Title: Infrastructure Administrator

Location: US-IL-Chicago


This role is actively engaged in the operations, engineering, support, upkeep, strategic development and implementation of networks, firewalls, security compliance, routing, vendor services, server side applications, file services and Office 365 products, related to operating the K+S Group companies Windows/Linux based applications and Office 365 product suite in a global team of Office 365 System Administrators. This role is directly responsible for North American Office 365 management, maintenance, operations and support of all other topics in conjunction with other North American team members. This role is engaged in support efforts for all K+S group companies corresponding technologies globally. For the operation of the Microsoft Office 365 environment, the guidelines of the K+S group have to be observed and fulfilled.


         Respond to support tickets in a queue working to achieve published SLA response and resolution times.

         On call responsibilities

         Support for all aspects of Office 365, including:

o   Sharepoint

o   Mail services

o   Powershell and scripting

o   One Drive for business

o   Skype for Business, preferably with Intercall moderated bridge services

o   File services

         Alignment of global standards regarding the operation of the Office 365 environment in a global K+S team

         Knowledgeable of current windows server operating systems

         Expert knowledge of Office 365 products and delivery

         Expert in active directory

         Intermediate firewall rule administration

         Intermediate in routing concepts and models

         Expert in packet switching and network modeling

         Intermediate in Wireless 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz management including Cisco wireless controllers

         Intermediate in Voice over IP services, including quality of service, phone management, vendor management and Cisco Call Manager and telepresence systems.

         Vendor engagement for all aspects of systems.

         The position will use skills in MS windows based server and Office 365 based technologies to maintain a highly-available, highly secure, highly-scalable and geographically diverse infrastructure to support business critical applications.

Analyze and tune systems for performance, throughput, resource utilization, high availability, and scalability
Review of systems to ensure adequate capacity, performance levels, and upgrade requirements
Provide day-to-day management of the infrastructure to ensure security, availability, and uptime
Provide guidance on architecture to ensure adherence to global standards
Ensure systems proactively monitored 24x7
Perform routine diagnostics and maintenance, and install/implement new hardware or software as it relates to systems infrastructure
Perform packet analysis to identify and remediate security and performance issues
Participate in disaster recovery and fault tolerance management and testing
Manage and ensure change control is being followed and tracked for systems infrastructure
Provide escalation support to other system administrators
Provide ad hoc assistance as needed Project coordination/engagement
Customer interaction
Keep current knowledge of changing technology.
Other duties as assigned


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related IT field, and/or 7 years of experience working within a diverse IT infrastructure. Microsoft, VMware, Citrix and storage certifications preferred.

         Hands on experience working in a data center supporting windows servers OS

         Hands on experience supporting and managing active directory in latest releases of MS Server OS.

         Hands on experience supporting and managing Office 365

         Knowledge and experience in data center design and operations.

         Knowledge of Networking principles and technologies, including In-depth knowledge of Layers 1 – 7 of the OSI model.

         Hands on experience managing firewall policies

         Hands on experience implementing routing in an enterprise environment

         Hands on experience implementing and designing networks utilizing best practices in the field of networking

         Hands on experience managing Cisco wireless access points and controllers

         Hands on experience managing Cisco call manager end points/users

         Hands on experience working with telecom and data providers in managing services
         Excellent problem solving skills.
         A thorough knowledge of DNS, DHCP and windows networking.

         Linux/Unix expérience a plus.

         Understanding of PLC environments and automation a plus.

         Experience working in a global infrastructure environment a plus.
