Job Description

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Programmer Analyst/EDI is responsible for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) planning, analysis, development, testing and implementation of HIPAA mandated EDI standard transactions.  Develops and maintains trading partner guide(s) and works with trading partners to insure compliant testing, implementation, and on-going transaction handling with existing and new trading partners.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•             Maintain knowledge currency related to mandated and standard transaction sets, and develop/maintain trading partner guides (15%).

•             Analyze data models and requirements, and map data to mandated codes and transaction elements (20%)

•             Develop queries and EDI handling routines for inbound and outbound transactions.  (20%)

•             Monitor, maintain and tune the EDI Translator system (10%)  ** this is all in Oracle SQL packages – we have no packaged tool.

•             Monitor and maintain currency and compliance of all EDI trading partner connections (10%)

•             Document internal design specifications, EDI/programming standards and conventions, test plans, and software installation (10%).

•             Troubleshoot system design and solve problems of limited scope

•             Monitor and perform routine maintenance on various systems as necessary including installing upgrades and patches.

•             Participate in the development of policies and procedures for programming guidelines.

•             Report on the status of projects and tasks either orally or in writing as required.

•             Applies judgement in devising program logic and selecting and adapting standard programming procedures; obtains advice when precedents are unclear or unavailable.

•             Access EPHI following the current guidelines as established at the company-wide and department levels.

•             Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

•             Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

•             Four-year college degree or equivalent experience. 

•             4+ years experience supporting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) translators and data interchange management. 

•             2+ years experience with object oriented programming

•             2+ years experience with SQL and database connectivity. 

•             2+ years experience developing and modifying stored procedures, constraints, triggers, etc. 

•             Ability to communicate in an effective manner with other technical team members and interface directly with system users.
